The faculty is the principal policy-making body of the Institute for the History and Philosophy of Science and Technology. It functions through the Director, who is responsible to the Faculty of Arts and Science, the Director's Advisory Committee consisting of the Director of Graduate Studies, the Director of Undergraduate Studies and the Director, and Faculty Meetings that are held fortnightly (one of its functions is approval of nominations of affiliates).

purpose is to consider admissions, standing and financial
support for IHPST graduate students.

JOINT GRADUATE DEPARTMENT ACADEMIC APPEALS COMMITTEE
On occasion a student may dispute substantive or procedural academic
matters, including grades. The recommended channel of
resolution for such disputes is first with the instructor;
then with the Director of Graduate Studies, if the dispute persists. Beyond
that, the student may then make an appeal to the Joint Graduate Department Academic Appeals Committee.

In addition to generally advising the Director, the Committee ratifies nominations for membership of other committees; selects instructors for courses.
GRADUATE CURRICULUM COMMITTEE
This is a student-faculty committee struck by the Director and the President of HAPSAT, comprising the Graduate Coordinator (ex officio, faculty members, and 2 student members (PhD students where 1 should be in first year of PhD program). Its purpose is to deal with initiatives or problems that concern graduate students (e.g. programs of study, exchanges with other institutions, proposals for workshops, nominations of affiliates). At least one meeting each term is open to all members of the IHPST.

This committee
administers the May Fund for the History of Mathematics. It comprises the IHPST Professor in the History of Mathematics (ex officio), the IHPST Director (ex officio), and 2 other faculty members. Its purpose is to administer the May Fund for the History of Mathematics.

PAULINE M.H. MAZUMDAR PRIZES IN HISTORY OF MEDICINE
Membership: 2 assessors whose area of expertise is in the history of medicine and 1 assessor who is a historian of science or technology or a philosopher of science. Purpose: for the best essays on any subject within the history of medicine written by undergraduate or graduate students registered at the University of Toronto.

TEACHING ASSISTANTS COMMITTEE
Consisting of the Director's Advisory Committee, the Business Manager and the Administrative Assistant, this committee meets to recommend appointments of teaching assistants. The recommendations of this Committee will be discussed by the Director with the IHPST's Union representative before offers are made.

UNDERGRADUATE CURRICULUM COMMITTEE
Consists of the IHPST’s Director of Undergraduate Studies (Chair), the IHPST Director and the Principal of Victoria College. The purpose of this Committee is to consolidate the IHPST undergraduate offerings into a more coherent program associated with Victoria College and to oversee the IHPST’s undergraduate curriculum.
